I am so happy that you guys enjoyed mine and Hans’ story. It truly is a crazy story of love isn’t it? People would do just about anything for it and I am so happy to have found my soul mate even if it was stressful and emotional to get to where we are today. Yesterday was mountain biking round 2. We went to the same trails as Saturday. The Sherman Branch trails are my absolute fav because it is not a bumpy ride with tree limbs in the ground everywhere. It has steep hills and dangerous curves but it’s not bumpy at all. You know what that means? Haleigh can sit down pain free.. haha. We biked for 1 hour until we decided to call it a day. I really enjoy mountain biking. It is the first cardio activity that I actually look forward to 😉
After biking, Hans suggested we go out for a late lunch at Panera. I had a better idea.. Zada Jane’s! I have been looking for an excuse to try it out and Hans was down with that. I have seen this cafe on many Charlotte food bloggers’ blogs. I have to say that it wasn’t hyped up at all. The cafe was fun with a hippy vibe to it, it seems like it is in a fun area of Charlotte as well.. especially since it right down the street from my beloved yoga studio!
I ordered the spinach salad with fresh spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, roasted pumpkin seeds, carmelized onion and instead of a boiled egg, I added chicken w/balsamic. So. Freaking. Good!!! Any one in the Charlotte area who hasn’t tried Zada Jane’s yet must try it. Like. Now.
Sorry for the smart ass smirk, I was hungry with the sun in my eyes… haha.
Hans ordered the Druther’s Clucker sandwich. Grilled chicken, fresh basil, carmelized onions, mozzarella, and sun dried tomato mayo on rosemary foccacia. It kinda sounds like my salad but in sandwich form. Hans thoroughly enjoyed his lunch too.
The thing that I really liked about Zada Jane’s is that you can really enjoy the atmosphore and ambiance of the cafe because the staff doesn’t rush you. If I treat myself to a meal out then I want to enjoy it, I hate it when waitresses/waiters stand over you and rush your meal to get you out so they can make more money. We will be making another trip very soon, perhaps this weekend for brunch!
Fast forward to this morning. It is a slightly cool, dreary day here in Charlotte so I woke up craving warm oatmeal which was too bad because I had already stuck some overnight oatmeal in the fridge yesterday. Despite the warm food craving, my overnight oats still hit the spot. I added 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup soymilk, and a few spoonfuls of oikos vanilla yogurt and stuck it in the fridge last night and this morning I added 1 banana, a little more yogurt and some raspberry preserves.
